First home buyer loans
Buy your first home with confidence and a clear plan
Buying your first home is a big step. It can feel exciting and overwhelming at the same time. You do not need to understand everything before asking for help. Fuda Finance works with first home buyers from the earliest planning stages through to settlement, helping you understand what you can borrow, what programs may apply to your situation, and what steps make sense next.
Where to start
Buying your first home can feel overwhelming. It does not have to.
Most first home buyers come to us with the same questions. How much can I borrow? How big does my deposit need to be? What grants or programs might I qualify for? Do I need a guarantor? These are exactly the right questions to ask, and there are no silly ones.
The first and most important step is knowing your numbers. Once you understand your borrowing range, your deposit position, and what lenders are likely to consider, everything else becomes easier to plan.
Fuda Finance helps you make sense of all of it, in plain English, at your pace, without pressure.

How we help
Helping first home buyers move from unsure to ready
Buying your first home can feel overwhelming, especially when you are trying to understand deposits, borrowing power, repayments and lender requirements at the same time. We help you make sense of the numbers, understand what may be possible, and build a clear plan for your first home loan journey.
We look at your income, savings, existing debts, and financial structure to give you a clear picture of where you stand today and what lenders are likely to consider.
We model your likely borrowing range and show you what repayments could look like at different loan amounts, so you can plan with real numbers rather than guesswork.
We look at deposit pathways, guarantor options where they may apply, savings targets, and any programs that could be relevant to your situation and eligibility.
We create a clear, practical plan showing what needs to happen to get your finance ready, whether you are buying in three months or planning ahead for next year.

We cover loan pre-approval so you know your budget before you start inspecting properties. We explain how factors like your deposit, credit history, employment type, and the number of dependants can affect which lenders and products are available to you.
We also help you understand the difference between fixed and variable loans, how offset accounts work, and what loan structure is likely to serve you best given your goals. And we help you avoid the common mistakes that can slow down or complicate a first home buyer

Common questions
What people often ask us
How much deposit do I need to buy my first home?
The minimum deposit required varies by lender and your individual circumstances. Most lenders look for at least a five per cent deposit, though a deposit below 20 per cent typically means Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI) applies. Some buyers may be able to access government schemes that allow them to buy with a smaller deposit without paying LMI, depending on eligibility. We can walk you through your deposit position and the options that may be relevant to your situation.
What first home buyer grants or programs might I be eligible for?
There are a number of government programs that may be available to first home buyers in New South Wales and other states, including the First Home Guarantee, the First Home Owner Grant, and stamp duty concessions. Eligibility depends on factors such as property price, income, and whether you or your partner have previously owned property. We can explain which programs may apply based on your circumstances, but we cannot guarantee eligibility as this is determined by the relevant government body and lender criteria.
Can I use a guarantor to help me buy my first home?
A guarantor arrangement can sometimes allow a buyer to borrow with a smaller deposit or avoid LMI by using a family member’s property as additional security. Whether this option is available depends on your situation, the guarantor’s circumstances, and the lender’s criteria. Not all buyers will qualify for a guarantor loan, and it is important to understand the obligations involved for both parties. We can explain how guarantor arrangements work and whether it may be worth exploring for your situation.
Do I need pre-approval before I start looking at homes?
Pre-approval is not legally required, but it is strongly recommended. Having a pre-approval in place means you know your budget before you start attending inspections, which helps you search with confidence and act quickly when you find the right property. Pre-approval also gives the seller and agent confidence that you are a serious buyer. We can help you understand what is involved in getting pre-approved and whether your current position makes you ready to apply.
How does Fuda Finance decide which lender to recommend?
We look at your full picture, including your income, savings, deposit, credit history, employment type, and any other relevant factors. Different lenders assess applications differently, and the right lender for your situation depends on your specific circumstances. We compare options across a range of lenders and explain our reasoning so you can make an informed decision.
